
I received an email stating 'Thank you for your purchase!' as I was on my way out of the house last night, and after reviewing it, I was billed for roughly $100 of NBA 2k16 Virtual Currency, a game that I've never played. I tried calling Sony first, but their billing department was apparently not open (cited M-F, 8A-8P PST), and then my bank (not realizing it was Sunday in my panic) and finally PayPal. I wasn't able to get ahold of anyone over the phone with PayPal so instead I hopped online and immediately disputed the purchases with PayPal as they are fraudulent.After calling Sony this morning and speaking to two separate representatives (one base level, one supervisor), they offered to do a one time refund to my PSN wallet. When I mentioned that the money was deducted from my bank account directly through PayPal, the representatives informed me that while they could refund to a debit/credit card, but they were unable to do any refund to PayPal themselves. I asked them what my alternatives were to this matter and that was disputing the charges with the bank, but then my account would be deactivated and banned from PSN, meaning I lose everything I've ever purchased from them. Being that I purchase almost EVERYTHING digitally from them, it's easily 2500$ in games. Irate, I ask for a supervisor, and get transferred to the bottom tier's supervisor, who essentially parrots all of the same information back to me. Attempting to climb the chain further, I ask for his supervisor, to which he tells me that there wasn't anyone else above him there. I requested a follow up or call back of some means, to which he said I'll notate your account, but I can't guarantee someone will call you back.Pissed off, I ranted on Facebook not divulging any details, and a friend I hadn't spoken to in years contacted me asking me if it were NBA2k16 VC. His account had the same deduction made -- $100 of NBA 2k16 VC purchased via linked PayPal account -- a day prior to myself.Please unlink your PayPal from PSN. Please don't purchase digital titles, especially if this is how they're going to handle a potential breach. If anyone has advice, please please please let me know.
