I just finished watching Haikyuu! and it was amazing.

I didn't really have anyone else to share this with since getting my friends to watch sports anime (or even anime in general) is like pulling teeth. I'd been burned by the sports genre in the past with stuff like Prince of Tennis being near impossible to take seriously. Kuroko no Basket is nowhere near as bad, but I also couldn't really get into it for similar reasons.Haikyuu! manages to strike that perfect balance of being exaggerated enough to be hype but without going too over-the-top. In an actual sports match, not every game is going to be close and not every point will be hype but this is where fiction or, more specifically, animation comes in. It's the same with the characters, the designs don't look too special or inspired when they're still (I often confused Kindaichi and Iwaizumi on Aoba Josai, for example) but in motion they look distinct and fluid.I have so much more to gush on about, but I'll cut it short here! It's nowhere near as subtle with its characterizations as the masterful Ping Pong, but it's such an honest story. What you see is what you get and I what I saw was glorious! http://ift.tt/25MMgx1
