Top 100 Stand Alone Anime Movies of All TimeIt's been more than a full year since I've last submitted my list to /r/anime, and I've been steadily updating it in the meanwhile. Imgur removed their upload limits a while back, and I decided to keep adding on to the list. I resubmit the list today because I hit a mile marker. There are now 200 films listed in the album if one includes the honorable mentions! There are films from every genre and time period, from the 60's straight up to 2016. I've ranked them from worst to best, but even the films ranked in the 100's are still well worth a watch. Even if you completely disagree with all my rankings, I hope this list still serves as a good resource to find quality stand-alone movies. The guidelines I follow for the list are pretty simple:Title must be a stand-alone film. Franchise movies aren't automatically disqualified, but movies that depend heavily on the preceding televisions series like Disappearance of Haruhi and End of Evangelion will not be included.Title must be included in the popular anime databases (e.g. anidb/myanimelist/etc). Easiest way for me to avoid the debate about what's actually "anime."Title must be feature length, approximately 40 minutes or longer. Shorts such as Cencoroll and Little Witch Academia will not be included.I've always loved movies, but they're not discussed very often outside of Ghibli or Satoshi Kon. Hope my list can spur some interest in all the other great movies that are out there.I'd welcome any comments or criticisms you have. How do my top 10 stack up against yours? Any surprise appearances or absences on the list? Suggestions for additions to the list are much appreciated as well. I'll continue to update the list as I find new worthy candidates, so be sure to check back. http://ift.tt/1SqBG1U
