400,000 subscribers!!! - Snoo and Thumbnails contest

Wow, 400,000 subs wooo!Party hardHere's a chart with the growth of the subreddit.So, a lot of you have asked for some sort of update to the look of the subreddit, and since we've reached 400k we've thought of some cool stuff to that effect.We'll be having a snoo and thumbnails contest to replace the snoo and thumbnails (duh) the sub uses. We've had the current snoo for a super long time now, and most of our thumbnails are just the reddit defaults. What's better than having it be a community made thing?So here's how it's going to work:To enter the contest you need to submit both a new snoo for the banner and thumbnails featuring that snoo for each of the different thread tags we have (Spoilers, fanart, rewatches, WT!, satire, cosplay, default self posts, nsfw, controversial and general episode discussions). (nsfw one should obviously not be nsfw)The current assets are 70x70px for the thumbnails and 145x180 for the snoo. So take that into consideration for your submission. Larger images would be good in case we make banner size (etc) changes in the future, just make sure to include versions at the relevant dimensions.Winners will be selected by the mod team. We'd like to keep the look of the relatively simple so keep that in mind. Whether in the colour palette you use or otherwise.You're free to redesign the snoo entirely, just make sure that it isn't obviously a particular existing anime character.Prize at the moment is a flair that you get to choose and update whenever you want to whatever you want (like what we mods do). One day, she sees her father driving out of that castle - rushing home to tell her mother, she unknowingly reveals her father's adultery, causing her family to fracture and her father to explicitly state that that their family falling apart is the result of her not being able to keep her mouth shut.Jun falls into despair, until a strange egg explains that the only way to save herself from further heartbreak, and from hurting other people with her words, is to seal them away forever.Why you should watch it:Anthem of the Heart is one of the few romance drama anime which actually manage to touch on the themes of depression and self-guilt while managing not to be depressing for the viewer. It balances its heavy moments with plenty of lighter moments and manages to maintain a fairytail-like feel throughout its run time. Additionally, unlike many romance anime, it manages not to fall too hard into the usual tropes and plotlines (but I won't go further into that :P).Many anime show a class working together to put on a performance, whether that's a dance number, or a play, a musical, or something else, but generally that performance is only surface level deep. They'll give you 'a musical' but you won't really get to see it, or know much about it and the real effort that went into preparing it.In Anthem of the Heart, you really get a musical - and it's glorious. Sung by the members of the cast and containing numerous classical songs with repurposed lyrics that tie directly in with the rest of the story.The staff:Here is where the secret to Anthem of the Heart's success becomes wholly apparent. KyoAni shows exude the love that the animators and staff put into them, and Anthem of the Heart has that very same feel to it.The backgrounds look brilliant, the characters fantastic, the animation? true 24fps.Here's a couple of gifs as examples:1 (slowed to 50%) - 2 - 3(also has a severe case of KyoAni thigh syndrome, but that might be just me~)As one final note, something that I really appreciated was the attention to detail put into character clothing. Each time you see a character outside of uniform, they're wearing a different arrangement of clothes from the last time - and each time it'll still be something that fits the personality of the character and the weather they're experiencing.TL;DR:Anthem of the Heart is a romantic drama which manages not to be depressing while telling an extremely heartfelt and human story.It has a vibrant cast played by great voice actors, a phenomenal soundtrack, beautiful art, and smooth, detailed animation - all backed by a god-tier team with members responsible for some of the best shows of all time. Though I may add a few more here and there if they're particularly good, depending on how things go.Going to start off with the animated faces since the static part will take a long time both to set up and roll out, etc. I'll need to set up some sort of polling system for which faces stay or something, will work it out later.The following faces will be retired either due to lack of use or just oversaturation of a particular show in the animated faces (cough Chuunibyou cough, I know, I know okay?).If you'd like a face to stay leave a comment with why you think it should stay and how it'll be used.You can also suggest a swap of one of the faces that's safe, however, in that case you'll need to supply an alternative in terms of use (for example, Yoko's #justno would need to be swapped out with a similar look of "no." - we can probably find a better thumbs up than #helmetbro)For starters due to overlap we'll have a poll between some of the faces, to see which stays. [Project] /r/anime(graphy) 2016

A while back qyll announced that Animegraphy 2015 would be his last.However, they're a little too awesome to let die, so /u/xKaillus and I had the idea of making one with /r/anime as a community project.If you don't know what an animegraphy is; basically they're a yearly retrospective AMV of the past year's seasonal anime.For example:Animegraphy 2012Animegraphy 2013 (easily the best one)Animegraphy 2014Animegraphy 2015You'll note that each section of a particular animegraphy has a particular theme which is encapsulated by a combination of the song choice, scene selection and quote usage. That is something we're hoping to be able to replicate.Now, all things considered, since at the very least it's our first time doing something like this, we're going to do it a little differently so that things will run a little bit smoother. Instead of the entire animegraphy consisting of clips from the entire year's worth of shows it will be split up into 6 sections, with one section for each season + a prologue and epilogue each consisting of clips from the entire year's worth of anime (will also work to separate us a little from the originals so that we're not completely copying the idea).Most of all this will allow us to test our method as we go along, as well as being able to work on it as the year progresses (less stressful, potential earlier release, etc).Now, where you, the community comes in:Firstly, we're going to need some people who want to help edit the AMV. If you're interested either PM me or chuck a comment below. Just let us know why you want to help out and if you have any experience working on AMVs.Secondly, (and this is where the main community participation comes in :3). The idea is to assemble to AMV entirely using clips submitted by the community and with songs/themes suggested by the community. These will be assembled in a wiki page by type/usability etc (/r/anime/index/animegraphy). Whether it's an awesome little moment or just a headtilt let us know (preferably with a cutout of the scene, but if not a timestamp will do :3). I'm also planning on doing some sort of thread each season (perhaps in the middle and end) to collect clips that people haven't gotten around to submitting. If you'd like to be a dedicated scene scavenger let me know (otherwise just chuck one of the wiki editors a PM when you see something cool).Lastly, maintaining the wiki page will (hopefully) be a lot of work, so if you're interested in helping keep it up to date let us know as well~And with that, we'll leave it up to you to give us ideas and feedback! (You'll note that the wiki page isn't exactly fleshed out yet) Is there anything you want to see? Something you think we should know?
