[Spoilers][Rewatch] Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun - OVAs 1-6 and Final Discussion

Well, it's the final discussion thread of the rewatch! We'll be talking about the Specials today and sharing any final thoughts on the series. I have a more comprehensive post written up in the comments. One final reminder that all manga discussion should be spoiler tagged like this. If you don't know how to spoiler tag things, check out the "Spoilers" section in the sidebar. Rewatch Resource HubInfo: MAL | Anilist | Hummingbird/r/gekkanshoujonozakikun EpisodeDate (MM/DD)Episode 107/07Episode 207/08Episode 307/09Episode 407/10Episode 507/11Episode 607/12Episode 707/13Episode 807/14Episode 907/15Episode 1007/16Episode 1107/17Episode 1207/18OVAs 1-6 and Final Discussion07/19 FAQWhere can I legally watch this?Crunchyroll members can watch the entire series on their website. Episodes 1-4 also seem to be available on YouTube at the moment, though I can't find any other good resources for the remaining episodes (everything else is pitch edited, from what I can tell). Hulu members have access to the entire subbed series. All six subbed OVAs can be found on YouTube. How's the English dub?I've never watched the whole thing dubbed, but I've skipped through parts of it and the casting is pretty decent. I would highly recommend that any first-time watchers watch the subbed version because it's an anime about manga, and a lot of things can get lost in translation. That, plus Ari Ozawa does a spectacular job as Chiyo in this series.  Yesterday's Scavenger Hunt:Watermelon - 0:11, on the poster, and again at 9:49. This is a comedy series so there's not going to be a ton of analysis like you'd see in a rewatch of Eva or Lain, but feel free to share your thoughts on the episode and on the characters. I'll also be actively participating in every thread, and will set up scavenger hunts for each episode. To participate in the scavenger hunts, just see if you can find the items in each hunt while watching the episode - reply with a timestamp or describe the scene where the item is.  Today's Scavenger Hunt:A peacock (might be a rooster? [Spoilers][Rewatch] Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun - Episode 1 Discussion

Welcome to the first episode of the rewatch! Today we'll not only be kicking things off with Episode 1, but will also be celebrating the two-year anniversary of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun's anime premiere! This is probably my favorite anime, and I hope that first-time viewers and rewatchers alike have a blast over the next two weeks!Just a reminder that any discussion about events in future episodes should be spoiler tagged like this. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun rewatch starts in a week!

TL;DR: Swing by on July 7th at 2:00 PM EST for the beginning of the rewatch! A few weeks ago, I posted an interest thread about a GSNK rewatch, since the show's two-year anniversary is coming up on July 7th. It got a lot of positive reception, so we'll be starting with Episode 1 in a week, on the anniversary. If you're on the fence about watching the show and want to learn more about it, I highly recommend you check out the interest thread for some useful links, a brief synopsis, and my own overview of the series. We'll be doing one episode a day and then watching all 6 specials on the last day (they're 3 minutes each). The schedule looks like this: EpisodeDate (MM/DD)Episode 107/07Episode 207/08Episode 307/09Episode 407/10Episode 507/11Episode 607/12Episode 707/13Episode 807/14Episode 907/15Episode 1007/16Episode 1107/17Episode 1207/18OVAs 1-6 and Final Discussion07/19 I initially proposed a time of 8:00 PM EST, but a few people objected. I'll be bumping this time up to 2:00 PM EST, which should be more accommodating for anyone watching in Europe. For reference, this thread was posted at 2:00 PM EST.I plan on participating in the episode discussions as much as I can. I'll be screencapping all of the really memorable faces and I'll also probably come up with scavenger hunts for each episode. For any rewatchers, I'll of course ask that all spoilers for the show in this thread and future threads are properly spoiler-tagged. For any first-time viewers joining us, feel free to ask questions and participate in the episode discussions with your thoughts on the show! http://ift.tt/29gvBfh

Any interest in a Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun rewatch, for the show's two-year anniversary?

(Approved by /u/urban287)Hello, /r/anime! I'm here to see if anyone else would be interested in doing a rewatch of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun in about a month. GSNK is one of my favorite anime and also one of my favorite comedy series in general (next to Parks and Rec). The two-year anniversary of its premiere, July 7th, is coming up pretty soon, so I thought it'd be appropriate to start /r/anime's first rewatch of the series on that date. Info: MAL | Anilist | HummingbirdMAL synopsis (spoiler-tagged for those who want to go in blind):basically no spoilersbasically no spoilers Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun is inherently a feel-good show, and has never failed to put a smile on my face. The show is rarely (if ever) depressing, rage-inducing, or reliant on "cringeworthy" moments - with the exception of one rooftop scene. It constantly subverts expectations, especially with its characters, and much of its humor is grounded in poking fun at common shoujo tropes. Despite the title of the show, Gekkan Shoujo is not in fact a shoujo series; it's 100% comedy and appeals to basically everyone. Seriously, I've never met anyone who's disliked this show. Its biggest strength is in its vibrant cast of characters, who all have unique personalities, not only in the show but in general, as well. The main character, Sakura, is amazingly designed and also has some of the best facial expressions you'll ever see. Sakura is also regarded by many to be Ari Ozawa's breakout role (she would later land main roles in Rolling☆Girls, School-Live!, and as a certain harpy in MonMusu).Accompanying its characters are consistently good animation, voice acting, and a wonderful, memorable soundtrack with the best, funkiest OP I've ever heard. It's got countless laughs in every episode and has cemented itself as one of my favorite series of all time. I've gushed enough about it, though, and this post is already getting long, so if you'd like to read any more praise about the series, take a gander at /u/BanjoTheBear's spoiler-light review of the series. If you've never seen the show and, like myself, are a lazy person and have skipped reading all of the above, here's a few things you should know if you're on the fence about joining this rewatch:Gekkan Shoujo is a romance-comedy series, but the balance is about 95% comedy and 5% romance. If you want a show that gives you some kind of romantic development and closure, this show isn't for you. Watch Toradora or Amagami SS instead.Gekkan Shoujo is primarily character-driven, and there's not much of a central "plot" to speak of - instead, we get to watch the characters and their relationships develop over the course of the series, similarly to Nichijou, for example. It's absolutely brilliant and you should just join the rewatch. Here's the schedule, with episode 1 starting on the show's two-year anniversary. The specials are short (about 3 minutes each) so there shouldn't be any problem doing them all on the last day.I tentatively plan to post each thread at 8:00 PM EST every day, since I live on the US East Coast and have a full-time internship this summer. For a simple time conversion, this thread was posted at 7:00 PM EST. EpisodeDate (MM/DD)Episode 107/07Episode 207/08Episode 307/09Episode 407/10Episode 507/11Episode 607/12Episode 707/13Episode 807/14Episode 907/15Episode 1007/16Episode 1107/17Episode 1207/18OVAs 1-6 and Final Discussion07/19 Please leave a comment if you'd be interested! http://ift.tt/1UsW9EA

Anime with a lot of playful banter between a couple?

I'm currently watching Kekkai Sensen and I love the dynamic between Zapp and Chain, where they both tend to insult each other a lot but you can tell they're low-key into each other at the same time. Most of the time, playful insults and banter are one-way when it comes to anime couples - what are some examples where it's more balanced? Bonus points if it's an actual couple and not something that's just teased by the show. http://ift.tt/21rekjM
