So, I went to Japan this July and wanted to do some anime sightseeing along the way. So I started up some shows which were based in places I were to go to and took LOTS of screenshots. Then, when I reached Japan, I started taking LOTS of photos. The plan was to compare screenshots with real life places and replicate the shots as accurately as possible. The results can be seen below. It was a lot of fun doing this and it changes watching certain shows a bit. It's really nice watching things and going "Hey, I know where that is!". I don't know if I'll do it once again, but I really recommend doing something like this if you have the means, especially if stuff like Uchouten Kazoku is one of your favorites (as is the case with me). But I'll shut up for now and put the links in already :).Uchouten Kazoku and Kyoto (134 photos) - This one took the most time, both in terms of preparation and execution. Originally I took 200-something screenshots and tried to pinpoint them using Google Maps, but then I decided "screw it" and just went around the general areas when I got there. Some photos are of really shitty quality, but that was the best I could do in some cases given my equipment and general photographic skills.Hyouka and Takayama (82 photos) - Most of those were taken with help from my friend and the Hyouka sightseeing map issued by the city. Some of the screenshots here are speculative and the anime is in general more loose with reproducing the city than Uchouten Kazoku (especially with the school area), but most are accurate I believe.Extra nr 1: Oregairu class trip (9 photos) - very few of those and many pretty loose with accuracy, so I'm putting these as an extra. Possible spoilers for the first 3 episodes of second season.Extra nr 2: Higurashi and Shirakawa-go (11 comparisons, 56 pictures in general - With this one I didn't have much time for taking reference screenshots and taking photos in and of itself, so I'm basically dumping all of the photos from there + some screenshots I was able to take on my way to the village itself. CAREFUL, SPOILERS IN ONE OF THE PICTURES!And that's it! Hope you'll enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed taking them :). http://ift.tt/1FWG4GF
