It is almost unknown to fans how they favorite anime are made and the struggles of the industry, and this is specially true for the anime voice acting (Seiyuu) business in japan. When speaking of anime Seiyuu, everyone think in the most popular and known voice actors of the industry: Famous idols and celebrities. But how is the life of a newbie that wants to become a seiyuu? That is what "Sore ga seiyuu" is about. It is the adaptation of a manga written by the seiyuu Asano Masumi (known for her voice acting roles on "Ikkitouse", "Dothack" franchise, "Hayate no Gotoku" among many more), about 3 girls hoping to get into the competitive world of anime voice acting in japan.Do not be deceived by the cute art, it is by no means a happy-go-lucky moe moe show.A constant theme of the story is how tough the industry is and the amount of hardships the 3 girls have to endure if they want to succeed. An incredibly informative show with tons of information about the seiyuu business. The 3 Protagonists!Ichinose Futaba:A young woman in her early 20's that graduated from voice acting school and works hard with an agency in order to fulfill her dream: become a voice actress. As inexperienced as she may be, she tries very hard to do her best regardless the situation.According to her, the agency she works for fires whoever is not promising enough after 2 years, which is a major motivation for her to work hard and make her dream come true.Since she is not famous enough, apart of her work as a seiyuu she has a part-time job in a market.Moesaki Ichigo:A young woman in her early 20's that dreams to become an idol seiyuu. In order to achieve this she left her home is living alone in tokyo. In order to make her dream true she adopted a moe persona as a "strawberry princess" and is careful to stay in character constantly, no matter how many times Futaba and her coworkers have to tell her she doesn't have to force herself to act cute all the time. She is sometimes embarrassed of her moe moe persona, like when her relatives start following her tweets...Like Futaba, she has a part-time job to pay her bills and struggles with money.Kohana Rin:Unlike her 2 friends that already graduated from school and live alone, she is still a middle school student and remarkably young for be a seiyuu. To the point other seiyuu think she is a lost girl in a studio. When she was a young kid her parents decided to enroll her in an acting troupe so she could overcome her shyness. After that, she started with the voice acting business. Like the other 2, she wishes to become a great seiyuu. She is so busy with her work that she misses important aspects of her school life. The famous support characters! In every episode, the 3 protagonists have to do diverse jobs as seiyuu: Radio shows to advertise anime, dubbing, anime game voices, and of course, anime. And in every episode they meet a real-life famous seiyuu.Even better, each famous seiyuu in the anime is voiced by himself/herself in real life! They give tips to the 3 protagonists and speak of their days when they were newbie seiyuu too and what they like about work on the industry, inspiring the 3 main characters to improve and become even better every day. Some of the seiyuu that appeared (i won't mention all...): On episode 3, Yukari Tamura known for her roles like:'Rika' on Higurashi no naku koro ni'Jibril' on No game No lifeDiverse characters on Oreimo and many more. On episode 11, Ryouko Shiraishi known for her roles like:'Hayate' on "Hayate no Gotoku"Diverse characters on Kyousogiga and many more. On episode 6: Rie Kugimiya known for her roles like:'Alphonse' on Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.'Taiga' on Toradora! among many others. On episode 7: Rikiya Koyama known for his roles like:'Kiritsugu Emiya' on Fate/Zero, Fate/Unlimited Blade Works, and Fate franchise in general.'Mamoru' on "Hajime no Ippo" and many others. On episode 5: Yui Horie known for her roles like:'Akane' on Kämpfer.'Tsubasa' on Kizumonogatari according to MAL and many others. The anime ending: Request corner! On of the most notable aspects of Sore ga seiyuu! is the ending and its "Request Corner".Basically, on every episode ending the 3 girls speak of what happened on the episode and what will happen on the next episode. Not only that, they are requested to sing 1 song from an anime. An Opening or an Ending. The song is often related to the famous Seiyuu that appeared on that episode. For example:On episode 1 it was Neon Genesis Evangelion opening: "A Cruel Angel's Thesis"On episode 7 it was Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A's opening: "Eternal Blaze"Of course, i'm not going to post all of them. Conclusion:Sore ga Seiyuu is an incredibly informative, uncommon and interesting anime about the voice acting business from the viewpoint of a seiyuu, the author of the story.Definitely worth watching if want to know more about the seiyuu and anime industry. It is not as simple as say "i want to be a seiyuu" and suddenly have a happy life as a super famous seiyuu.Instead of show a rose-colored life, the anime makes emphasis on the fact that it is an incredibly competitive industry where the voice actors have to struggle with hardships, no matter if they are newbies like the 3 main characters or pros like the real seiyuu that make a guest appearance.  http://ift.tt/1OH5B9t
